CD-ROM and the Birth of the Internet

Research, user interface, CD-ROM and web development at Vivid, one of the first interactive agencies in the world. I started in 1992 as the third employee, when the Mosaic browser was first released. It was the right startup in the right place at the right time. Ride bike to work, HTML all day, then ride over the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin Headlands trails. 1992

A CD-ROM every 30 Days

Producing one CD-ROM per month with distribution of 150,000 units. These were bundled with IDG PC Games magazines and included demos, reviews and applications. Managed cross-departmental teams for design, production, QA, distribution. Negotiated materials pricing, closed advertising deals. Turned a cost center into a profit center. 1993

UX and UI Awards

Himalayan Journey CD-ROM​. Research, user experience design and product development for an adventure travel CD-ROM released in 1997. Distributed in the US and Germany. Won numerous awards for user interface design and educational content including games and interactive journeys. All expenses paid trip to Paris to accept the Mobius award for user interface design. Other awards for UI: How Magazine, Invision, NBMA, Emma. 1992
